Welcome to the [Fair name]. This book lists the rules, classes and premiums for every department. Please read the general rules and your department's page before you enter. The fair board sets these rules and may update them before entries open.
General rules
- Entries close on [Entry deadline]. Late entries are accepted only where a department page says so.
- Exhibitors must meet the age and residency rules on each department page.
- Each entry must be the exhibitor's own work, grown, raised or made as the class describes.
- An item may be entered in only one class unless a department page says otherwise.
- Entries must be in place by the time on the department page and stay until release time.
- The fair takes reasonable care of exhibits but is not responsible for loss or damage.
- Animal exhibits follow the animal health rules listed on each livestock department page.
- Exhibitors and families follow the fair's conduct rules. The board may remove entries or exhibitors for rule breaks.
Judging
Judges place entries using the class description and their own judgment. The judge may decide not to award a placing if entries do not meet the class standard. Judging is final, except as described under protests.
Premiums
Premiums for each class are listed on the department page. Premium payments are made by [payment method] after the fair. Unclaimed premiums are kept for [number] days, then returned to the fair's general fund.
Protests
A protest must be in writing, signed by the exhibitor or a parent, and given to the fair office within [number] hours of the placing. The department superintendent and [number] board members review it and give a written answer.
